“Hun Ahau
Gallery” This is Richard Hansen and me together at the Hun Ahau Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho. I had carved a piece of Mayan art for his gallery. He is the UCLA Mesoamerican archaeologist whose work in Mesoamerican studies and archaeology is enlarging and changing the chronology and understanding of the ancient Mayan peoples. The plaque is of Lady Shak and her vision-serpent. I cut and carved over 2500 pieces of maple to create this atonishing piece of Mayan art. Richard is now devoting all his time to digging around somewhere in Central America, and unfortunately for us, has closed his gallery. I wish him all good fortune in his endeavors.
